St. Alphonsa Syro-Malabar Church : Steps to setup your Syro_Malabar Online Payment
Dear brothers and sisters in Christ:
The week just passed was indeed an extraordinary week for us. We have a new priest in our midst, from our Parish. I want to thank each and every one of you for your astounding support and prayers. Both the ordination and the first Holy Qurbana went very well, without any issues. As, Fr. Melvin Paul alluded in his homily, he indebted his vocation not only to God’s calling, but also to the St. Alphonsa community which nurtured and nourished his calling through various activities. I hope and pray that we will have more vocations in the coming years. On behalf of Fr. Melvin, his family and myself, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
The news is dominated by stories about the coronavirus. In the midst of the rising anxiety around us, I encourage us to be a people of hope, trusting in the power and plan of God. Along with being a people of hope, I want us to be a people of courage and compassion, ministering to those who are sick when others shy away. No one in our community should suffer while having the coronavirus or while in quarantine or in isolation.
Few reminders:
If any of you or someone you know are in need of any financial assistance, please do not hesitate to contact or inform me. We are here to support.
A group of volunteers will also provide assistance if you have a loved one or an elderly at home that is ill. The volunteers are ready to deliver grocery, food, medicine or drop off prescriptions at your doorstep during this difficult time.
As noted before, if there is an utmost need or urgency in receiving the Sacrament of Confession, Holy Communion or Sacrament of the Sick, or any other spiritual need – please let me know. I am here to support and assist you in any way I can.
During this time of uncertainty, I encourage you to remain strong in your faith and stay connected to your parish. Many parishioners asked me how to send the monthly offertory and pledge. The Trustees and Parish Council also suggested setting up an on-line contribution. Based on the requests, we are setting up electronic fund transfers, so its easy to transfer your monthly pledges. Below are the steps on setting up electronic fund transfer. If you have any questions, please contact Biby Thoms, our accountant at bibyjt@gmail.com or (301) 908-9752. . You may also send your monthly contributions by mail to St. Alphonsa Catholic Church, 5709 Oakland Road, Halethorpe, MD 21227 or drop it off at the rectory.
