VICAR’S MESSAGE

FR. WILSON ANTONY

Hello Everyone,

Hearty Welcome to St. Alphonsa Parish Website.

“It was not you who chose me, but I who chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit that will remain…” [Jn.15:16].

We are called to love one another in Jesus Christ and chosen to be the people of Syro Malabar Catholic Church in Baltimore in order to bear much fruit in Christian life.

The Syro Malabar Church was founded by St. Thomas, one of the 12 Apostles of Jesus. When St. Thomas Apostle arrived in India in AD 52 and spread the Good News, many people received baptism from him and became Christians. Syro Malabar Catholic community (Marthomma Christians) is the second largest catholic rite among the eastern catholic churches and is in full communion with Pope Francis.

St. Alphonsa, the patron saint of our parish, is the first saint from India as well as the Syro Malabar catholic rite. St. Alphonsa church in Baltimore is a part of Syro Malabar diocese in Chicago, which is the first Syro Malabar diocese established outside of India. At present, Mar Jacob Angadiath is our Bishop and Mar Joy Alappatt is our Auxiliary Bishop of the diocese.

“Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life.” [Jn. 6:54].

Our community is celebrating and partaking in the Holy Qurbana as the source and zenith of our christian life. In our daily life we uplift family fellowship and serve our church through different ministries and liturgical ceremonies.

Dear friend, I am sure that you will find useful information about our church and our activities in this website. Let us have a faith filled journey holding the hands of Jesus Christ, by the intercession of St. Alphonsa to the heavenly home of our Father by the powerful inspiration of the Holy Spirit.

Thank you for visiting our website and I welcome you to our church.

God bless you !

Fr. Wilson Antony (Vicar)
